Wednesday morning I walked into the garage and struggled to chose what tool to take out on Remembrance Day. The snow line looked low but the overnight snowfall amounts were uncertain. The board and the sled were obvious choices but what about the Fat Bike? Would the snow depth be too much for the fatties. We decided to find out.... Also featured in Norco Bicycles news here....
The last of the maple leaves were hanging on after the biggest storm of the year....
The hills above Squamish looked white....
And the snow line looked just right....
Just a few inches at the parking lot....
The first 5 kms to the Red Heather shelter went pretty smoothly.
The big granite walls of Squamish started to show their first big winter coatings....
The contrast this time of the year is spectacular! This place shows just how amazing the Squamish Valley is and how big the valley to peak relief is....
As we broke into the alpine it was obvious the snow depth was just right to get a little loose on these snow bikes!
Alpha and Tantalus were looking amazing as usual....
Ross got a jump on some other snow riders and poached their line!
So ridiculous....
At the 12km mark Elfin Lakes were looking almost frozen....
Norco Sasquatch and Hopworks Abominable Winter ale go well together!
The day's weather was a mixed bag....
But it made for some great skies....
The final 10km drop in was prime for some deep Fat Bike shredding!
Another spectacular day above Howe Sound....
